Oh my god, that ad is awesome. Hopefully it will sink in for a few people. I know that most rape-culture attitudes are pretty deeply embedded, but if a couple of dudes rethink their assumptions, or (more likely) a couple of survivors laugh and feel less like everyone's blaming them, it's worth every penny of airtime.

Also is it bad that I kind of want the skirt? It's so shiny and drag-queen-tastic.

I hope so, too. Come on, Scotland! I love you; please make me proud.

I'm going to be tracking this one to see if there are any follow-up reports. According to the BBC clip, the advert premiered/will premiere during a World Cup results programme. Tocca ferro for a positive response.

It's so shiny and drag-queen-tastic.

Innit though? And I'm pretty sure that my friend E would say exactly the same thing. Actually, since I haven't seen her since December (she's been in Auckland), she may already have it and I just don't know about it. Something to look forward to when I see her next. Bwee.

I read this thought, "Yay, Scotland!" Then I read this, about Baltimore, and wanted to cry. Stupid people are stupid.

WTF, Baltimore. Just--WTF.

Thank you for that article; it was an enlightening read.

Freaking rape culture.
