Call Us Home Snippet

Backstory on Story:
This, is the story that has taken a good 8 or so years of my life and is my baby. My dream since I was a teeny little girl - after being a singer - was to write. I loved getting lost in the worlds and the people and the creatures I could create, and usually in class instead of paying attention I'd be writing something from this ( Read more... )

Gosh, I remember when you came up with this story back in the sixth grade. Can't believe it's been that long already. The one thing I remember the most was the innkeeper. XP I like this little snippet. I can't wait to find out how the story will go. Looking forward to it.

Me too. I think this is the first time that I've actually loved my characters, though. (Especially Ny. Ny and her awesome dreads and awesome mothering awesome-stincts.) And the end which I already have all set up in my head, is going to make me cry so much, because of that. And that is good because if I'm emotionally invested in them, others will be. And that makes me a happy panda (even if I'm making other people cry. :D)

Sounds good. I do agree that if your emotions are invested in the story, then the readers will feel it as well. I'm like that too when I write my stories and read other people's stories. I always want to feel what the characters feel.

A part of me wishes I kept track of how many times you rewrote this story over these eight years. Don't know why, but I do wish it. My estimate is it's probably too many times to count.

Well... There was the first time, where it was mostly childish bleh with an unholy amount of characters and the plot was... something about an Evil Guy (Shade I think then). Then there was the second, which, again, had too many characters, and that had the goddess' in it. Then there was another rewrite of that version, the third. Fourth was the first version of this with Rebecca and James and Xaviam, and this is the fifth rewrite. I think that's how it goes, anyway. I sort of remember the protagonists: it was Kai (I think), Anya, Anya, Becca, and Becca. And I'm not even going to go into the sequels of the ones I finished (the third and the fourth) because that would just make my brain hurt.

The main reason why there's not more is because of school and, for the last two anyway, I was busy writing about Cadery and Kradam.
And now I'm wondering what Rebecca and James' name smoosh is... Jamecca? Remes?... Jaca?
