It is epic. It's one of the most critically, and fan (minus the third game, which is a shame), acclaimed video game trilogy I've ever seen or played. It's also evolutionary in many ways but I'll try not to sing its praises to high. :)
I also like to hand-wave a lot, shrug at the plot, and move on with my life. Take BSG for instance: who/what was Kara Thrace? I don't know and I don't care, but I loved her. HAH! Yes, I heart Kara, but we never really did find out what the hell was up with her. (I, personally, liked the idea that her father was actually the last cylon, and that she herself was the first true 'hybrid' but that didn't pan out...)
Again, I point to "Shepard's tale" and leave it at that. No one cared what Odysseus did once he got home, just that he got home and reasserted his power. Shepard's odyssey is over; now it's the galaxy's turn to take up the mantel and drive forward in a new direction.I agree with this. I've heard people say that the ending didn't seem like a dream because it was indoctrination, but that it seemed dream like because we are seeing the story being RETOLD. And since no one was around for that portion to say what REALLY happened, it took on a more grandiose scale, with the storytellers filling in the blanks the best the could off of
