In both, the sky is absolutely stunning. Unlike others, I'm less bothered by the "darkness" in the second one because I accept the building is in sillhouette from the setting sun. Colors are marvelous, and that's coming from one who see's colors in his one unique manner (partial color vision "deficit").
If you do play with the second to try lightening the chapel, I'd work it on a second layer, and try to select only the chapel for modifications. As I said, though, I'm less bothered than others.
Then again, since I'm rather late in coming to comment, perhaps you've already modified it.
