Definately B for the first one - the colour really brings it to life. not sure on the second one, but despite generally not liking black and white photography probably A - the pic is much more interested, and not like a car advert!! :)
I understand why black and white gives better contrast and detail in film photography, but that ain't true in the world of digits. Give me the colour, dammit! (-8
It's not contrast or detail that makes the difference between colour and b&w, the main thing is to decide what is the star of the shot. Is it form or colour? Often the colour distracts from shapes, using monochrome leaves only light and dark to define. I was a dyed-in-the-wool silver nitrate man up until quite recently, but I now think that the best of digital beats the best of film. There are a few circumstances where film is the right thing, but those occasions are getting fewer each time I upgrade my equipment.
Great colours on the 2nd picture of the college, whilst the b&w is a bit depressing. OTOH the car in colour is pretty ordinary - maybe it's the background letting it down. And I like the way it's going O_o in the close-up 8-)
