I finally finished Dune and its a miracle I did.
That... is quite possibly... the longest book I've ever read in my entire life.
There's so much detail written in one page that it isn't possible to zone out for even a minute without missing something important.
I mean, I finished it, but not all of it has processed through my head.
I would definitely have to reread it someday... but no time soon. I'm afraid to reread it because I know it'll be a month-long process.
But I still understand why its considered a classic. It really was enjoyable and I heard the sequels only get better and better. The characters were quite realistic and the novel touched on a lot of themes that I normally wouldn't go anywhere near (lol, politics? What the heck is that?).
Books that are on my shelf, sitting impatiently waiting list:
- The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde
- 1984 by George Orwell
- The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks
- Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
- All the Sad, Young, Literary Men by Keith Gessen
- Impulse by Ellen Hopkins
- I'm sure there are more that I just can't think of right now
I need to stop buying books. T_T
