[ personality ] Matt is very, very shy and most of the time goes unnoticed. A lot of the time when he is noticed he's mistaken for Alfred/America. Even Kumajirou, his speaking pet polar bear forgets who he is (often staring at Matt and asking 'Who?') He tends to seem invisible and just fade to the background, his very soft voice doesn't help the matter either. Canadians are stereotypically really nice people and so is Matt. For example, Cuba has a grudge against Alfred and is constantly confusing Matt for him and beating him up, but Matt always forgives him. (He's easily swayed by ice cream. And maple syrup.) He regularly gets in trouble because he is mistaken for Al. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have an aggressive side, usually using hockey as an outlet for it. It's usually Alfred who gets to experience Matt's temper, one time Matt spent three hours listing his grievances with Al and left him in tears. He's friendly and hates fighting and confrontation. One time when England confuses him for America and France cuts in and says that he's Canada and can tell from his silky French hair, Matt silently fumes about how he is always overlooked and forgotten and that he should do something but he never does and just ends up agreeing with him.

Notable events in Hetalia canon: Canada reminisces about how he used to be doted on when he was younger by both England and France, but when England introduced him to America (a colony at the time) he is quickly ignored and over looked.
[ appearance ] Military (and another); Casual outfit would be a red hoodie with a white maple leaf on it and jeans. He also wears glasses.
[ abilities ] As a nation he has an extended life span (and even if he ceased being a country he would still be around, like Prussia), so he may be immortal. But like a normal human he can still get injured, he will just heal faster than normal. In order to cause lasting damage one would need to harm Canada's economy.
Canada has also participated in wars, so Matt would have an extensive knowledge of weaponry.

Where am I? This isn't Canada.
[Matt clears his throat and speaks up finally]
C-can someone tell me where I am? What is this place?
[He looks worried and his voice gets a bit shaky]
I heard something about a w-war? We shouldn't fight...
[His voice trails off]

Matt was lost, so very lost. He could tell he wasn't in Canada anymore and he was doubting that he was even on Earth anymore. The people were talking about a war and something about a Queen. He attended all of the summit and G8 meetings, he would have known about an impending war. He didn't want to get caught up in another war. The two world wars were bad enough, along with the countless battles he has fought. Yes, he could fight and yes, he was pretty damn good at it, but it doesn't mean he enjoys doing it.
He walked through the village and held himself tighter. If he just knew where he was maybe he could find another nation or someone to tell him what was going on. The people didn't seem to notice him, which was nothing particularly new or anything. Actually for once he was thankful that everyone was looking right through him.
"E-excuse me." He said softly to one of the less threatening townspeople. The man looked startled, as if he hadn't noticed Matt's presence before he spoke. He probably didn't.
"Where am I?" He asked just as softly as before. The man regained him composure and scowled before going back to work, completely ignoring Matt.
Matt sighed lightly and continued walking. It wasn't long after the man brushed him off that Matt looked inside a shop window. There were many colorful cakes displayed on a table. His stomach growled with the realization of how hungry he was.
He entered the shop and looked around. It was empty. He pulled out a few Canadian dollars and left it on the table before taking a piece of cake, he couldn't just steal it. After two bites he noticed something different. Did he seem smaller? Was he shrinking?!
"Maple! Just where am I?!"
