Someone who still uses "grrrl" in her name shouldn't be allowed to say anything in publicity. Especially something that blatantly offensive.

Secretly, I have an axe to grind with this person. I've never met her, and from what I've been told on a face to face level she's very personable, but as a symbolic figure she sort of hits on everything I kind of hate about NYC, music and pop culture.

I also don't mind people saying dummb shit and apologizing -- sometimes it's all you can do, right? But I will say that the few people who have called her on it so far have been referred to phantom medical studies she's "heard about" and their concerns with her weird, creepy essentialism have been brushed aside.
