Just discovered that they've made the Dark is Rising into a movie!!!
and that the movie probably sucks :(
They made the hero an AMERICAN and toned down the Christian symbolism- what???? The Susan Cooper stories are soooooo English and sooooo Christian-mythic...it's like...making a movie about the Beatles and deciding they should be American punk

ooh, they could be from Boston, and start out as a Ramones cover band. That would so rock.

And Yoko could be a Venice Beach blonde that Jonny picks up when they are working on their second album.

George could have talent, and Starkey could be smart, and Paulie could have a soul. It would be grand.

Yeah, we noticed that too...as a Briton, sadly, I'm used to it. All our best stories get nicked, with Americans in the title roles, and we get written out of World War 2, as well (see U-571).

Not to mention The Patriot, where they take a massacre that was actually American revolutionaries burning down a church full of American loyalists and attribute it to the UK. And don't mention the bit about how we were freeing slaves while the likes of Jefferson made full sure to hold onto theirs after they won the war.

And let's not even get into Braveheart.

Not that I'm bitter ;)
