They met three years ago. He was seventeen, two of them were sixteen, and the other was eighteen. They hadn't met each other before then, and only one of them had seen who the others were. Fuji Yuuta was the one who suggested they meet. He could talk to them in their dreams.
In all honesty, Yuuta felt out of place. The other three looked like they could defend themselves, if they faced the men in black suits alone. What he could do wasn't enough to drive them away, and he didn't want them to keep bothering his family. He couldn't bear having his brother look at him that way again. So he ran away. But he made sure he wouldn't be alone. The boy in his dreams asked him not to. The boy in his dreams guided him. He was even the one who led him to meet Kirihara, Hiyoshi and Niou.
"W-well, it's... It's nice to finally meet you," Yuuta said, and gave them his best smile. Aah, if only he could talk to him outside of a dream, maybe then Yuuta would know what to do next. Kirihara looked uneasy. Hiyoshi looked like he didn't care. Niou kept glancing back toward the door and the windows. Yuuta tried his best to keep the mood up.
Kirihara was the first to speak up. "Why the fuck did you want me to come here, anyway? And who're these other people, Fuji?" Typical Kirihara. He was always so... irritable, even when dreaming. "Yeah. And how come we all know you, but I don't know either of them?" This time, it was Hiyoshi.
"I... well, you see..." Yuuta faltered. How could he explain? How should he tell them what the boy in his dreams told him? Where should he start?
"It's those men in black suits, isn't it?" Niou looked at all of them. Hiyoshi and Kirihara stared at him. Niou continued, "They're all after us. That's why we're all here."
Yuuta nodded, swallowing that nervous lump in his throat. It was good to have someone older, wiser (at least, so Yuuta hoped) with them. "Yes. They're after me. They're after all of us. That's why I asked to meet you three." And because the boy said they would make good companions. It didn't look like they would get along. Not Hiyoshi and Kirihara, at least. But somehow... Somehow they
Hiyoshi took a step forward. "But why? I haven't done anything! I'm not sure about the rest of you, though." He looked at Kirihara suspiciously. It was obvious that he didn't trust him. Kirihara sneered at him. "How do we know you're not with them, huh?" Yuuta stepped in between them before they started getting too rowdy.
"Look, we have a common enemy. They all want something from each of us, I don't know what it is, but that's why we shouldn't be at each other's throats," Yuuta said. He glanced at Niou, hoping that he would help. Yuuta was only met with silence. "I've heard about these men in black," Yuuta continued. "The people they take away don't ever come back. Or if they do come back, they aren't the same anymore."
"Union," Niou finally spoke. "I think that's what I heard themselves call their organization." Yuuta almost smiled. He would have if it weren't for the situation they were in. Niou ran a hand through his hair. "Look, stop pretending and saying that you don't know what they want from you. It's not going to help any."
"Why should I trust you?" Kirihara asked. He looked unsure. Hiyoshi agreed with him.
"Because Yuuta trusts us," Niou replied.
Yuuta wasn't sure what Niou was getting at, but he was glad that at least he was able to get Hiyoshi and Kirihara to agree on something. In a way, he admired Niou. All Yuuta did was gather them. It was Niou who brought them together. It was Niou, too, who kept them together all those years.
