Kirihara and Hiyoshi were both huddled together in the corner of the small room they were renting out. Yuuta was pacing back and forth and looking very nervous. They were waiting for Niou.
They were supposed to get a new message from Alice today. Niou went out to the usual place to retrieve it, but he hasn't returned. It has been five hours since he left.
"Do you think the Black--"
"Don't even say it!" Yuuta snapped. No, Niou hasn't been caught. He shouldn't. If there was anyone of them who could slip right under the Technocracy's noses, it was Niou. He was the most powerful, after all. Not even Kirihara, who has the help of his Avatar, could compare to Niou's abilities.
"Yeah, shut up," Hiyoshi said, hitting Kirihara over the head. Kirihara hissed and glared in response. "He'll be back. He always comes back."
"But... really, what if this Alice person works for the Blacks too?" Kirihara shoved at Hiyoshi and stood up. He walked over the window to check if Niou was somewhere close by. The streets were empty. "What if it's all a trap, and she's leading us straight for the Technocracic Union?"
Yuuta sighed. "I've thought about that, too. But..." He looked at Kirihara. "I don't think Alice works for the Union. She's helped us escape the Blacksuits a number of times already," Yuuta said.
"Yeah, but what if it's part of the plan? To get us to trust her, and then follow her straight to the Union!"
"We don't have much of a choice in the matter right now! Alice is our only way to get away from the Union--"
"Not anymore." The door suddenly opened, and Niou stepped in. He locked the door behind him and pulled out two folded notes from his pocket. "Alice is gone," Niou said.
