It wasn't always like this, Sengoku thought as Kirihara's arms wound themselves around his torso. He smiled, threading a hand through Kirihara's curls. No, they weren't always like this. He'd like to think, sometimes, that this was never supposed to happen, but that was just him, being afraid. Afraid of the endgame. He sighed and closed his eyes, burying his face in Kirihara's hair. If only, if only-- the words repeated in his head, and no matter how much he tried to stop thinking about it, about anything at all, his heart would still ache.

"Sengoku-san? Something wrong?" Sengoku heard Kirihara ask. His eyes were still closed, but he could practically see Kirihara's bright green eyes looking up at him, filled with worry. "It's nothing, I'm fine," he replied, pulling the younger one closer to him. Kirihara didn't protest and they stayed like that for a while longer. Soon, though, Kirihara pulled away from their embrace. Sengoku blinked his eyes open to find Kirihara watching him at arm's length. He gave him a smile-- he was alright, he really was. He was fine with this-- just this. He didn't need any more.

Kirihara smiled back. His hands moved upward, looping themselves around Sengoku's neck, fingers locking. Kirihara pulled Sengoku down as he stood on tiptoe, and pressed their lips together. Sengoku gives into the kiss. Before, the kisses didn't mean anything. He knew the first kiss was to make someone jealous. It worked, but at the same time, it backfired-- on Kirihara. The first few kisses meant nothing, but Sengoku felt the change. The longer they were together, the more he could feel Kirihara's attraction in their kisses. The more his heart sank.

"It's inevitable," he remembered the Seer say. "Even if you delay the events, it would still end as I saw it. You cannot change this future." Sometimes, he hated himself for wanting to know his fortunes. That was the last time he had his fortune told. The last time he consulted his horoscope. "You're going to break him," was what Kirihara's friend said. "You're going to break him, and he's going to resent you." Sengoku thought he would rather have that happen, but his friend was an incomplete Seer-- he probably hasn't Seen very far. If he did, he probably would understand why Sengoku hasn't left Kirihara.

Part of him was scared, true. But part of him was also happy. Satisfied. Everything was going to be okay. No matter how things ended, Sengoku would have been happy. Kirihara was a wonderful student. He learned quickly and he possessed so much energy. He was easily Sengoku's best and brightest pupil. His favorite, quite obviously. Kirihara would have done well, even without his guidance. He would have done his job. Kirihara was strong, he would cope.

"Sengoku-san, I--" He stopped the rest of the sentence, kissing Kirihara again. He knew what those words were-- what they could have been. He didn't want to hear them. Not as he was right now. "I know," he said as he broke their kiss and nuzzled behind Kirihara's ear. "I know," he repeated, much quieter, their arms tight around each other. If only, Sengoku wished, if only he'd stop being so afraid, maybe he'd let himself hear the words Kirihara has been trying to tell him. Maybe he could even say it, himself.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffff--, i am disappoint, do not want, orz, technocracy au, sengoku, senkiri, whine bitch moan, drabbles, tenipuri, kirihara, fail rika is fail
