speciation, a necessary occurrence for evolution to be possible

main point here yes, but I would quibble that in every case evolution requires speciation. Unless I am mistaken, this is the primary route, but it should also be possible to just start sterilizing the ones you do not like. Which I guess could be considered speciation into the quick and the dead.
