My 1st Scrapbook

I want to start creating a scrapbook - I know they're a collection on "pages" and layouts of whatever themes. But, do I "create" my layout right there in the  book or do I create it seperately and attach it to a page in the book?

Thanks Kim! Actually, I just want to do one... for Robert and I's [that sounds retarded] 1st anniversary... which is Mar 13th. But, I was going to start soon; to show the date we met and how, where... maybe some pages of special dates, holidays, concerts, movies, etc. I wish I would have been keeping something from each place we've eaten at... so I can create a page of "dinners" but I havent... any ideas on a substitute.
