Post Anime USA thoughts

Anime USA happened and I had many more successes than failures this year. I am glad of that. I also am glad that I have help to make it happen for the first time in a while. I had people I can trust and that really matters to me ( Read more... )

I started thinking the same thing myself recently, that I now run the conventions more out of wanting to run them than my love of anime. If you feel like you need to take a step back to refresh your love of the fandom, do it. Once you stop having fun doing this, it's not worth doing. You're a great staffer, a good friend, and I would hate to see you leave for good. If you choose to do so, make sure it's for the right reasons.

The concert ran late because it started late, both out of your control. Honestly I think you should promote your second to more of a co-commander position. You have the excellent planing skills the con needs and he is better at flexing and reacting on the fly, but you are getting better, I could see a major difference in how you ran things compared to last year. Don't be afraid to ask some of us Katsu staffers for help or advice, I know some of the AUSA heads think we want to keep the con down but this is just a crazy conspiracy theory. You have my support, use it when you need it.

I don't see Katsucon as someone trying to keep Anime USA down. I see us with different philosophies in areas like Guests. Anime USA want to bring different Voice Actors as much as possible. Katsucon likes repeat guests due to member demand. Our memberships are different, so I totally understand and respect their philosophy on guests.

Larry Furry (my Assistant Director) is awesome and I will do whatever it takes to keep him on staff no matter what I do.

Maybe taking 2013 off isn't a bad thing. It gives you time to think and see what you're missing by not staffing any con. Then you can decide which if any cons you miss staffing or volunteering.

The only time plane travel results in eating better is when you land at a resort (lol).

Running things? Hard. Enjoying things while running them? Impossible.

Very true on those sort of things. I have to put in a hard break to just see something besides Green Room or I wouldn't have survived the weekend.
