i should be sleeping instead of trying to re-write old poems. i hate this feeling. i'm trying to write something about how we create idealized identities of people we have crushes on, and when we really get to know that person all those romantic projections wither away. i'm really starting to re-think being a writer, it's like torture ( Read more... )

The urge to write is on inbedded in so many but a talent hidden in so few. Writing can be a blessing and a curse. It is simultaneously a release, an obsession, and an aggitation. However, here's a little advice from the words of Aristotle "If you want to be a writer, write."

Keep on truckin'. One day you will achieve your dream of becoming a struggling, alcoholic writer.

the value of a poem isn't how well it's written and if there's no flaws in it. Most the time it is all about the flaws, reminds us that such things come from mere humans.
I think Travis, whether or not you want to realize it, you have more writing ability than most people writing today, esp, poetry. I read your work and I don't see the work of a young man, but rather, the heart and soul of a man twice your age..You have not seriously begun your literary journey yet, but it would seem that you are light years ahead of many who are already moving down the road.
you're brilliant and I want a signed copy of every book you ever publish, believe me, if you ever become interested in such a thing, there will be book after book after book, you're too good for there not to be..

always,
Amberlee

P.S. " When you glow, I will cover my eyes," do I really need to mention how great this line is? I think not....
