Sam explains that it comes to this: Another livejournal survey (**1/2)

Jan 03, 2009 15:31

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Taste some alcohol. By that time it wasn't at all a big deal. Oddly enough it reinforced my lack of desire to drink cuz that shit tasted nasty.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
As if I remember what my resolution was. My current one is to improve my grades. I've not much of a choice.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I hope not.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Ditto.

5. What countries did you visit?
The magical land of sleep deprivation and bitter emptiness.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A happier answer to the previous question.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My birthday, because that's the only date I can remember. Not like I remember much about it. Take that as a clue as to how memorable the last year had been for me.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Somehow qualifying for 20 bucks an hour.

9. What was your biggest failure?
The realization that I in no way deserve any amount of money per hour.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had one cold. I like to blame my grades on the lack of motivation I got from it, but maybe that's just an excuse.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
The TV. I can't deny that.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Josh and Crystal for getting through their crazy quarter, and putting up with my me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Look at the rest of my answers. Who do you think?

14. Where did most of your money go?
CDs, games, food sometimes. Oh, and rent and bills, ouch.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Dan Barker's presentation, I guess. I wish there were more to think about or remember.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2008?
"Burden"

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Ha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter, but maybe, maybe I can work on that this quarter.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer. I'll have to rethink my budget this quarter.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Being with friends who care, spending real time with my family.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Every. Fucking. Thing. Actually except AGASA, I guess.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Being at my friend's house with my family, kinda catching up, singing karaoke till we all got tired.

21. What was your favorite month of 2008?
August.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
No, and I wonder if that's for the better or worse.

23. How many one-night stands?
Even this question is way above my league.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Olbermann's Countdown thing.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. I hated myself long before last year.

26. What was the best book you read?
Godless, because that was the only one I took the free time to read anyway.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Opeth's Watershed. It was more like I had low expectations, but it's actually my album of the year.

28. What did you want and get?
PS3, TV, metric asston of CDs and games.

29. What did you want and not get?
Love and self-esteem. I shouldn't expect any different.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Dark Knight. Wait, don't you mean last year?

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went out to dinner, had cake. 21. That's it. Doesn't really bug me, oddly enough.

32. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Video games and CDs. Of course the former led to making things much worse.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Look a little bit cleaner without appearing as a douche.

34. What kept you sane?
People around me, aforementioned video games and music.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jasmine Trinca @_@ Dunno how much of a celebrity she really is even in Italy though.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Gay rights and the election.

37. Who did you miss?
A couple high school friends. I hope to earn forgiveness from one, and I hope to actually apologize to the other.

38. Who were the best new people you met?
Anyone who had been nice and true to me on more than one occasion.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Find love and be happy with what you can be happy with. Otherwise you'll end up like me.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
The lyrics of "Burden" would be too obvious. Let's try this instead:

"Can you now return to from where you came
Try to burn your changing name
Or with silver spoons and coloured light
Will you worship moons in winters night"

I don't really know what it means either, but it feels better to ponder that than my current mental health.
