On the morning of November 2, 1859-Election Day-George Kyle, a merchant with the Baltimore firm of Dinsmore & Kyle, left his house with a bundle of ballots tucked under his arm. Kyle was a Democrat. As he neared the polls in the city’s Fifteenth Ward, which was heavily dominated by the American Party, a ruffian tried to snatch his ballots. Kyle ( Read more... )

Still not voting! I choose to not "participate" in this vote for doing so would support a System that is corrupt through and through("both" Red Team and Blue Team). However, although I would not have made the same pick you did, I respect the stand you're attempting to make as an individual voice, even though I don't think it will have a true impact overall. Of course, niether will mine! The System supports Itself and will keep Itself in Power.

ps... I continued our previous lengthy discussion.

That's your right. But doing nothing will definitely not change anything. Doing something, however faint the chance, might change something. It is a matter of lighting a candle instead of cursing the darkness. Slow incremental change is better than no change at all. Otherwise, how do you propose the "System" be modified? Read the whole New Yorker article, the way we vote has evolved, and it still is evolving. Who we vote for has changed and it will continue to change.

And if you choose to not vote, you forfeit your right to bitch. (At least to me.) If you won't play the game, why should you get to complain about the rules?

P.S. I saw your comments. I just haven't had time to give them the attention they deserve.

I have come to the conclusion that there is no "changing" the System. The other parties are just a bone the System has thrown the discontented, disenfranchised, disillusioned.

For me, the candle in the Dark, the Light at the end of the tunnel, will be the Systems ultimate destruction (more than likely by itself)... then perhaps We The People can reclaim our rightful government and give birth to something better from the ashes.

"choose not to vote/forfeit your right to bitch"... yeah, I used to believe that too. I now believe that to be a fundamentally passive aggressive program the System uses to shame people into toeing the line. I have taken that slave collar off.

To get me to vote again for the office of President (let alone register here in GA), it would take an incredibly powerful, true human being... that I actually believed what he (or she) was saying. There isn't anyone running who I believe, and truly doubt there will be anyone in the foreseeable future.

Fair enough. But the way I see it, work to change it from within, or work to change it from without. But sitting around waiting for it to all collapse is not taking a stand. It is apathy ( ... )
