KANEDA!!!: So what brought you to The Job?
Me: A temp agency.
KANEDA!!!: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Me: Not here*.
*I actually said "Japan, or working for a company that needs someone to travel back and forth to Japan," but I may as well just said "Not here." I understand the concept of greasing the social wheels with liberal amounts of bullshit, especially when speaking to the Director while still on new-hire probation... but at some point you A) realize greasing social wheels with bullshit is just nasty, and B) want to answer honest questions with honest answers. What do you expect I want to do with my $19,000 East Asian Studies degree? I imagine most people are where they are because something better has not came along yet, and I know damn well they hope their lives are not the same as they are now for the next five years.
Besides, in five years I will be 31, and that gets more and more depressing to contemplate.
