I read this last night (and the associated articles) but didn't have the wherewithal to answer. I still don't know quite what to say except that it seems to illustrate exactly what's happening in this nation as a result of the divisiveness and selfishness of our political climate coupled with the curdling of our cultural value of individualism. I really hate that this shit can go on anywhere at all, never mind here in the US of A, and what might just be worse are the comments to the articles, which suggest that people are USED to this sort of thing. They agree that it's outrageous, but they feel helpless to stop it, as if this kind of corruption is inevitable.

It sucks to be caught in the belly of a dying beast.
