It's interesting because I was recently shopping for pants to wear doing field work. My male colleagues have lovely pants that provide UV protection, are light weight, quick drying, and have lots of lovely pockets - front, back, cargo, etc. Most of the women's pants designed specifically for hiking and other outdoor activities have, at most, front pockets. Highly annoying - and these are not garments for high fashion activities but rugged outdoor clothing.

In the end, I did manage to get some with front pockets and a cargo pocket, but I'll still be stashing stuff in the pockets on the waist belt of my pack.
