[He gives her a gentle smile in return.]

He's not doing anything wrong, Miss Jennifer. But oh, we should eat those cookies.

Oh! Y-yes, of course.

[She thrusts out the box abruptly, it being a little damp but still in good shape; inside are the cookies he asked for, of course. They may be a little lopsided, with perhaps a bit too much frosting on some and not enough on others...but they do taste delicious and it's clear Jennifer put all her effort into making them.]

Um...Happy Birthday, Mr. Chopin. I only wish I could have given this to you sooner.

[He takes the box of cookies from her and looks at them with a smile, then sets the box down on the kitchen table then goes back to Jennifer to take one of her hands to kiss it.]

Thank you Miss Jennifer, you've made me so happy.

[She lets in a sharp intake of breath once her hand is taken. Jennifer, being Jennifer, is certain he's going to strike her- maybe with the ruler, like Mr. Hoffman always threatened to do (...did he?).

But he doesn't. His lips press against her hand, and he says thank you, much how she would read in storybooks. A dashing young knight bending down to honor an elegant young woman with a kiss.

Master Chopin himself is treating her like a human being. Like a lady.

It takes her a minute to get her voice working again.]

I...oh, it...it was no trouble.

[He still holds her hand and escorts her to the kitchen table, then pulls out a chair for her first.]

Please make yourself comfortable, dear lady.

[There's still hesitation for a moment, before she perches herself delicately on the chair he had so graciously pulled out for her.]

[She's a little star-struck at first, before she actually remembers the purpose of her visit.]

[He opens the box of cookies and smiles brightly at her.]

[Frederic takes one of the cookies and bites into it gently, chewing for a few minutes then his eyes widen after he finishes swallowing.]

Miss Jennifer, these cookies are absolutely delicious.

Oh, I'm so pleased to hear that...I never baked much before, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out...
