This fic is bringing up so many sad memories. Back in the early '90s my best friend fell in love with a guy who was HIV positive back when there were all these great treatments, back when it was a death sentence. He was gay and had used IV drugs, but it doesn't matter how he go it. He had. Shane was the sweetest, funniest guy, and we became friends. He died a couple of years later

But I'm feeling also exceptionally honored by your comment: reading your words about how I'm handling the subject matter and how it reminds you of all these real events is the best compliment I can get. Especially since I'm trying hard to keep it as realistic as possible even though I don't have any real life experiences with this subject.
