You could use the car to drive somewhere not as terrible-weather-ish than the east coast. Equal independence, but still with car.... if it's a good car.

Me and LA were childhood sweethearts, and we broke it off early enough that he didn't start taking out his corruption on me. I still find it endearing because I've been gone for so long, but if LA is anything, it's a torrid relationship, romantic in it's general lack of genuine romance.
