I can think of many books where I’ve loved a pairing more with every installment. Right now, this is the only one I can think of where that love gets explosive!
I also liked that he didn’t accept it at first. If he had shrugged it off easily it would have felt false.
Yes! It was so real, the way he reacted, and that makes the eventual romantic feelings much more satisfying. I also liked that he has time to reconcile Deryn and Dylan, to get it into his head that they’re the same person and still his best friend. :)
A bit of a role reversal with Alek tending to be the more emotional one and Deryn the take charge rescue one
It’s funny that Alek is more ‘the girl’ in their relationship than Deryn is. *g*
I wanted her to swing down and help Alek kick Tesla’s mad booty so I was somewhat disappointed she wasn’t there.Or, I don’t know, some flying Clanker thing could have come out of nowhere and she and Newkirk would be topside, helping to kick its ass! It really lacked that ‘final battle ( ... )
