One of the presents Jensen gets for his birthday is a box of magnet poetry; a gift from Sera, who immediately scampers off to their kitchen to put up each little word with a fit of giggles.
By the end of the party, Chris and a few others have already put up their own dirty sentences.

Where's the naked cuddle you promised me?

The next morning, Jared wakes to find the words perfectly organized by size of magnet in neat little columns on the fridge door. Shaking his head in amusement, he picks out a few choice ones for Jensen to read when he wakes up.

You are too perfect. I love you like white hot kisses.

“You're such a dork.” Jensen grunts between cereal and coffee, his smile lazy and warm despite his typical morning mood.

“And you have OCD.” Jared retorts, giving him a big, 'you're crazy, but I love you anyway' sort of smile before leaning over and kissing him lovingly.

When Jared gets back from running errands in town, he finds a new message below his on the fridge.

I kiss every inch of you every night. You taste like sugar and like light.

Jared feels himself smile before his brain even registers the warmth creeping up his skin and the amusement at Jensen actually managing to make his words rhyme. When Jensen walks into the room, Jared engulfs him, kissing over his cheeks, his forehead, his eyes and his lips.

“I love you.” Jensen only gives him a smile, the one that crinkles the corners of his eyes and tells anyone in a ten mile radius that he's on top of the world.

Let's go to the movies and I will hum you a song about nothing at all .

He was going to tease him about listening to Regina Spektor, but Jensen can't find the heart to when Jared comes down the stairs later that afternoon with his wallet and jacket in hand, hope in his eyes. So they go to the movies, half-watch some french film that's all sugar and quirk and on the way back, Jared leans in close, counting on the tint of their windows and hums the song that had been stuck in his head all day. It sounds beautiful and Jensen makes a mental note never to question Jared's taste in music again.

You stole my heart but I won't press charges.

Jared lets out that warm bark of a laugh when he reads the message the next afternoon, finding a pair of solid metal cuffs dangling from the handle of the fridge. He undoes them easily, and knows full well there'll be a naked Jensen waiting for him back in their bedroom. The man has the strangest ways of asking for sex, but never has Jared misunderstood any of his boyfriend's requests.

“Not even extortion?” He asks, swinging the cuffs around his pointer finger, Jared's eyes turning hungry as he gazes at Jensen, laying nude and ready on their white sheets.

“Maybe grand larceny.” Jensen smirks, shrugging a little as though it were an easy thought.

Jared lets out another laugh and within moments their joined at every inch of skin, the cuffs locked snug against Jensen's wrists.

“Sera's gift was pretty damn awesome.” Jared speaks softly after they've finished, his hand writing nonsensical words into Jensen's skin, stars sprinkled in with the letters.

“She's a girl who writes about two boys that are essentially sharing a heart for a living. Her presents couldn't be bad if she tried.” Jensen agrees, his analysis on their characters making Jared grow quiet and thoughtful; He'd never thought of it that way, but it makes absolute sense. Leave it to Jensen to be the one to make the summary so deep and valid.

Your mind is my greatest ally. Your shoulders are my greatest nemesis.

It's Jensen's turn to laugh as he reads the magnets, hearing the sound of the chin up bar in their spare room as it creaks and groans under the usual intensity of Jared's workout.

“Since when are you jealous of my shoulders?” He asks, leaning up against the door, watching Jared appreciatively.

“Since you've had them.” Jared grunts, still managing to flash Jensen one of the most breathtaking smiles around; He finishes his last set and hops down, laughing when Jensen backs away from his open arms.

“Come on, don't want a hug?”

“Not when you smell like a gym locker.” Jensen scrunches his nose, shaking his head and making a cross with his fingers, the action only serving to make Jared laugh harder.
Jared all but jumps on him, the two sharing a kiss so sweet that Jensen can't stop the sigh of undeniable happiness that leaves him and goes into Jared while their lips are together.

A good two hours later, Jared runs inside to grab more beer for him and Jensen and lets out a triumphant sort of noise at the words on the fridge.

I long for your lips like the sky longs for stars.

Coming back out with the case Labatt for the mini fridge and a popsicle for them to share, Jared sits on the edge of the pool that came with their new house in the mountains, feet dangling in the water as he watches Jensen swim laps.

The birthday had been a housewarming of sorts, though everyone had come over to help them move the day they got the keys. It's a good place, quiet and filled with the things they need and those they love. The pool is Jensen's favorite because he can swim year round; in the winter, the roof and sides close up around it, letting him swim in the snow but stay perfectly warm.

Jared must look wistful as all hell when Jensen swims up because the touch of Jensen's hand and the concern on his face make Jared confused for a moment.

“Everything okay, Jay?” When he gets a bright smile and an offer of a popsicle, Jensen grins back, pulling himself out of the water to sit next to Jared.

“Was just thinking how awesome our place is.” He muses, handing one side of the cherry dessert to Jensen, who gives it a few quick licks before it melts all over his hand and makes a mess.

“It is, isn't it?” Jensen agrees, eyes going in the same path Jared's had not seconds before.

“I'm glad we bought it. It's a good investment.” Jared finally looks back at Jensen, his lips stained a deep red from the sweet treat.

“I'm glad we bought it together.” Jensen whispers, leaning up and sharing a kiss that's all sugar and love, chlorine and sunlight.

“By the way, Jen? The sky can't long for the stars if they're always there.”

“Oh shut up. I was trying to be romantic.”
