T-minus Five Days to Halloween

-Still a blonde. I rolled a critical fumble last night by being so smart as to read directions. Namely, the whitening kit I bought said not to use the included bleach on already-bleached hair. So I sat with toner on my head for about an hour. After putting Manic Panic's "Virgin Snow" on my head for about 45 minutes to no effect. So tonight? MORE ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, but that shirt looks like a Stormtrooper with balls on his chin. That is all I can see. Ol' ChinBalls McDoomTrooper.

Also, the link to your whitening kit is broken. No matter what you do, dude, trying to take your hair all the way to white in a week is probably going to fry it. Good luck, and I've got my fingers crossed for you.

The whitening kit link should be working now.

And dammit, you're the second person to make the comment that my new shit looks like testicles. :-/

Fixed. Just looking at the link, it doesn't seem like that kit would've taken you to full white anyway. At some point, you'd have to either repeat bleach, or leave it on till it burned. :/ You can probably use the bleach from it, and it'll be okay.

Sorry, man. Calls 'em like I sees 'em.

I can only try. *hand to forehead*

Honestly, my hair is dark enough that it was pretty toasted just from the initial bleaching. I'm resigned to the fact my hair will be straw until it grows out.

I've had good luck with Born Blonde Ultra Blue bleach and the toner to go with it. Winsome Wheat is an awesome, ashy light blond shade. Now that my hair is long, I'm afraid to lighten it myself, though I dye it frequently.

LOL I HATE MY JOB.

I met Charlie Sheen once, did I tell you that story? If not, I'll get around to it eventually. But he was wasted.

Well, I'm trying to get it actually white. I was hoping to avoid using the white colored hairspray, but I may have to do that after all. I'm just super afraid that with such light hair, the contrast will be nonexistent and it won't work at all.

White is really hard. You can take hair to that baby-chicken yellow and then tone it up, but it's hard to get it to lift that pale yellow out, at least for me. My natural color is very, very dark and there just seems to be a level to which it will lift and it stops there. Maybe pro developer would do more.

The purple shampoo made for grey/silver hair is also great for blond or white hair.

I have your traditional dark Asian hair, and my stylist is convinced that she can get me to a cotton-ball white next time I come in. I think I'm going to try it.

Ugh. That Scooby link is horrifyingly misogynist.

Many years ago, I had several roommates who were going to cosmetology school. We set out to make my hair snow white, because I'm a geek and I wanted to look like an elf. My hair was lighter to begin with then than it is now (having kids makes your hair come in a different shade sometimes), so it was a light strawberry blonde. We bleached the HELL out of my hair, with stuff you had to have a cosmetology license to get. We managed to get a very light, almost translucent, platinum blonde, but white was not fully achieved. My roommates did think it was incredibly hilarious that the white "dye" we tried after the initial bleachings looked like synthetic semen ( ... )

White is almost impossible to get to unless you have very light hair to begin with.
