A man has been accused of [in some form] raping two women. I've read news stories about the accusations, but at the moment I don't know what to believe. Maybe he did it; maybe he didn't.
I think it may be a little early for vehement statements of 'He's a sleezeball / creepy / rapist!'. 'cuz hey, if it turns out to be mud-slinging - well, it worked.
I've never met the guy and don't know much about his personal character. Being accused of rape makes me wonder about his character and perhaps makes me more likely to question it. ...but I'm not going to judge the guy one way or another until more details come out.

Which has NOTHING to do with wikileaks.
He's ONE GUY. He's not a bond villain cackling with his finger on the button. He's not the one who is making this happen. There are tons of them. TONS. And I for one look at this and say "okay, so this IS how the world is working. Kinda like I expected."

Very well put. Assange's British lawyer has been on TV over here; the interesting thing that he mentioned was that they've been trying to talk to the prosecutor for his case since August, with no reply. So yeah, the Al Capone analogy fits.
