I think you've made the best decision. I think I'll do the same when I'm finally employed. There are more than enough animal charities. But the war has wasn't a big issue during the election compared to things like the economy, and I think the general public has put in the back of their minds.

hooray for you!! i adopted a soldier through adoptaussoldier.org - my soldier is a super nice gal from hawaii. i've already sent her a care package - it's fun picking out things for it!

yay! my brother has been over there five times now and even the smallest amount you can manage to do makes such a difference in their mental well-being. i got in the habit of sending my brother comics once a month when i worked at the comic book store. i think this time i'm going to send him tons of strawberry whoppers and nascar magazines :p

i'm pretty excited to get started. it makes the idea of braving holiday shopping feel more important. now to tell my family that i won't be shopping for them... i'm sure they'll be cool with it. no one truly needs anything this year. i'll get the kids a small gift or two still.

think about how often you write in your journal in a week... use one day to write to a soldier instead.

i was looking through real simple magazine. i looked at a few other sites too.
