The West Virginia State Fair is over. Business have reopened and traffic is back to normal. My kids went several times....to ride all the (in my mind, puke causing) exciting rides. They did drift in and out of the buildings that offered sites, sounds, smells of WV art, crafts, food and music but mostly they where there for the rides. The trills. My ( Read more... )

Hello,

:)

T and I went to the Prairie Home Companion show... I've been meaning to write about it. I kinda found the show to be boring but T enjoyed it immensly! Mostly because the host is a scandinavian Lutheran like T's family. T's Mother, J, really enjoys the show on the radio.

Glad your family enjoyed the fair. I try to stay away from the noise as much as possible. I only went to see the show this year.

I stayed away from the fair too. Would like to have seen the draft horse pull and Prairie Home Companion show. Now that we live in town we can listen to the show in the house. We used to sit in the car in the driveway and listen when we lived in Alderson. I really like the show. We laugh and laugh!

I did look up your exhibits right before the show and sadly you did not place or win any ribbons. I thought the ones that did were boring!

those look like they were really fun art projects to make together! it sounds like a good time, your fair. i sure like me a good fair.

we don't have them over here, but when i was little i used to love to go to our state and county fairs. the only thing i ever entered was a batch of cookies i baked when i was six (got a blue ribbon, as i recall). i never cared about the rides, but i was very happy with all the animals!
every so often we got to go 'do the puyallup' -- there's a song they made for the fair that i really liked, it's here at:

(the country version is the one from when i was a little kid)

I really haven't been to any other fair beside the state fair here in WV. I love looking at the beautiful quilts and other arts n craft type stuff. I took a peak at some of the entries when I dropped off our recycled art. Really beautiful and inspiring.
