Ohhhhh....this was wonderful! I'm not usually a fan of AUs, but this one was excellent. You captured gladiator!Jayne wonderfully. I particularly like the image you drew of him sliding the sword across his shoulders as he watched River. Very sensual and strong. And, of course, the interaction between the two was quite, quite hot.

This was so intriguing! Like goddess, I particularly liked Jayne's sliding of the sword across his shoulders. It gave a very strong mental image. The whole idea of mixing the old with the new was very common in Firefly so this wasn't a far-fetched idea at all for me and I really enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed your AU and I thougt it worked very well with the characters. The fight in the arena was awesome. I have a secret weakness for sword fighting men - how did you know? And I've got to agree with everyone that the sword across the shoulder image was totally hot :)

I loved gladiator!Jayne and his instant connection with River. I think my favourite parts were that River quite liked 'dirty and naughty' as long as it was with Jayne and the image of them together as a puzzle finally completed. Even broken as they are in their different ways, when they come together they are complete and whole... Beautiful.

Thanks so much. I am going to enjoy re-reading this fic over and over!

I'm so glad you liked it; I had some reservations about doing an AU, but like I said, it kind of just fell out of my brain.

I too have a secret (not so secret) weakness for sword fighting men; it's something about the fact that they tend to be topless while actually sword fighting...uh yeah. And Gladiator!Jayne seemed to kind of fit since he's a fighter already in the series.

Again, YAYness that you liked it! And enjoy rewatching "Firefly"; I had to watch about five episodes (including my favorite, "Serenity Part 1" because it has Simon in those glasses...yes, shallow, but true!) to get back into it and get River's voice right. I think I'm going to watch more!
