Apart from a pretty drive and a load of laughs with T, today was a waste of effort...

Once again proving that the destination is less important than the journey.
We lost on the overall mission objective, but won on points for amount of fun had.

Our search for an affordably priced car (that also runs) continues... today's adventure took us to the township of Washington.
Cut for length
The first obstacle we encountered was caused by the legendarily poor directions dispensed by MapQuest... which included, on this occasion, an instruction to turn onto a street that did not intersect the street on which we were traveling.
After we managed to sort out how to actually get to our destination, it was fairly smooth sailing for a bit. The car was black, awesome. The car had only minor body damage, acceptable. All of the power windows retracted into the body of the car, and only one of them failed to return, less than ideal, but livable as the one that did not return was not the driver's window.
When we arrived, the top was retracted, which made the car look sleek and breezy, but since the top was a power top, it begged the question of how in the hell they got it retracted since the battery was as dead as a very dead Dodo. It turns out that they simply pushed and forced the top to retract, which effectively destroyed the mechanism.
All that aside, it looked like a reasonably functional vehicle so we tried starting it via a jump from the current owner, to no avail. We then removed the battery, plunked it in our car, schlepped it to WaldeMarte where T used her feminine virtues and wiles to procure a replacement at no cost. The car still refused to start and upon closer inspection appears to have either a defunct timing belt or fuel pump, neither of which is a DIY project, unless you like combustion so much that you want a first-hand demonstration of what it must be like inside the cylinder, as you are much more likely to explode violently than wind up with a functional car at the end of the exercise.

And so our quest continues.
