Eating a tree, eh? Sounds like something we'd have to deal with here. Mom and Dad got tired of the birds eating the fruit off our citrus trees, so they had the gardener put up a cage to keep them out. Darn expensive too.

One of Dad's former co-workers just passed. She had developed esophageal cancer and there wasn't much they could do. Apparently it is difficult to identify until the later stages. She was only 65 years old-young by today's standards.

Not much going on at the moment as we're back in Salt Lake City at my brother's apartment. Our flight to Tucson doesn't leave until 8PM. We were in Park City for the weekend. Weather is pretty good-not terribly cold and no snow.

We're going to try spritzing the tree with coffee. Seems she doesn't like the smell and avoided a spot where he spilled some for a few days. I don't mind the smell of coffee so I'm good with the idea.

I was planning on putting up the tree tomorrow but Mouse had emergency gall bladder surgery Thursday night so she's unable to help for a few more days. Carvis wants me to wait until Mouse can help me but I'll see. I have to do some running around tomorrow - doctor's appointment and some shopping - so I probably won't have the energy to start decorating anyway.

Hoping that this surgery was the last thing to happen this year. Carvis's father caught a cold but is getting over it. He's still in the hospital and we don't know when he'll be able to come home.

We have snow on the ground again. So far it's staying but rain's in the forecast for this week so we'll see if it stays. Hoping for some warm sunny days after the rain or else it'll become ice. That will restrict my trips out even more.

Just a quick reply as we will be off to the airport shortly. Emergency gall bladder surgery is not good news. Hope she gets better soon. We will be home for Christmas, so we will most likely get a tree and decorate. There have been years that we didn't do that-mostly due to traveling. We generally wait until closer to the holidays to get a tree. Nice thing about being where we are is that afterwards, if I'm disposing of the tree all I do is toss it out back behind the shed. Out of sight, out of mind and no one complains.
