Dear Dogs and Cats:
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed.  I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep.  It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to ( Read more... )

The whole pc thing fries my fanny. I am a living historian and teach the "truth" about mid 1600's to pre 1840's history. Sometimes it's not pretty. My teaching, lectures what ever you wish to call it is about the common people and the struggles. Not our history book heros. Which is always written in a positive way by the winners of the battles.

My very most fav event was done in 8 years ago. The teachers where offended by the natives running around in breech clouts, the firearms and the tabacco. They pulled the whole zero tolerance for schools thing on the events. We never did figure out how to teach pre 1840's history with out knives rifles, tabacco and natives. So the event was toasted. Granted there are some males that should just not be running around in a breech clout, but on the other hand it is often nice eye candy for this old lady! I've even had public freak out when i sheared a sheep. *rolls eyes*

Haha. People are too delicate these days about the silliest things. They've really lost touch.
So, you're a teacher... That's something I've considered doing. You know--teaching grade-schoolers.
Amazing how history is rewritten, not only a little expurgated. And amazing how sometimes it isn't ever told factually at all.

Heee i have a good one for yah.

I bet anything in grade school you where told "Wampum" the white and purple shell beads of the native americans are like money. It was the Dutch that mass produced in the 1600's and made it into money. Wampum was a sign of a promise, your word. I suppose you could look at it like a gold star on your paper. 2 golds stars and you knew the teacher was really happy with what you did. 3+ etc etc.

As a native if you showed your wampum belt artfully done in various patterns of your family or tribe, this was showing who you are and that you are speaking the truth or that your will follow through on something. It was a show of your honor and word.

Not money
