Boy I'm glad we're getting a president who understands that Afghanistan is "the good war". Sure we went in there because they were giving refuge to Osama, and sure he's in Pakistan now, but that's besides the point. The point is that we can finish building our bases in Iraq, which will allow us to continue our occupation with less troops, rebrand ( Read more... )

Oh, I've seen this argument quite a few times. It goes, Obama is the next great hope!

To which the jaded reply, how is that, he spews the same rhetoric, voted for telecom immunity, and has the same corporate sponsorship. There's nothing different about him but his speech.

And the obamites say, oh, well he's not really progressive we'll give you that. Ok, so he's not much different at all, but he could be if people rose up and made him change.

And here's my reply. If we could get people to rise up in enough numbers to create change we could do it with McCain to, or without either. If we need a leader to inspire the people, we're fucked, and if we can inspire people without a leader, we certainly don't need Obama.
