Tailed dogs ...

For those who haven't seen this floating around facebook or the blogs or the interwebz.

Well written and well supported with scientific articles.

I sure hope this all happens sooner than 30 years, but if it takes 30 years, I'll keep blazing the path. One litter at a time.

re: can feel you gearing up for an argument about your breed, its history, what’s allowable and what freedom means.

I would miss Rum's tail on LJ so much if it wasn't there from the start! I actually think my life would be 5% depressing without it.

Why is Australia actually so progressive on tail docking? Weird. We are usually so behind. If backwaters like Aus can do it, you can totes win this battle

I sure hope it doesn't take that long. It's hard to find breeders who will leave tails and while I prefer to have a tailed Aussie I am not sure I'll risk choosing at 24 hours again taking a chance at whether the temperament will suit me or structure will be decent.

I know of several PS breeders in Europe who refuse to sell puppies to Americans because of the tail thing. And one 'popular' Canadian breeder is blacklisted from quite a few lines of dogs, she's even banned from some FB groups because she has on several occasions imported dogs then docked their tails (sometimes as adults). Argh!

The cropping and docking are such strange practices. I wonder how they came to be. Have any AKC breeds that have had cropping and docking ever changed their breed descriptions to keep natural ears and tails?
