Personality
Michael is neither a silent loner nor an upbeat extrovert, but a happy medium between the two extremes. Actually, this 'happy medium' could be considered outright contradicting. In some instances he can be friendly, helpful and adventuresome; in others cynical, selfish and "by the rules". Though many find this contradiction odd, it generally does little to turn people away. In fact, he makes acquaintances quite easily, even when he doesn't go out of his way to show positive feelings towards others.
He is full of energy and is usually seen doing something, whether it be uploading a new shipment of supplies or just organizing random files. Not surprisingly, he's a bit of a workaholic. Michael turns his workaholic nature on high when he is plagued with unsettling thoughts or troubles, driving him to work nonstop to the point of near exhaustion. As with everyone, though, he does like to sit back and relax, usually with a good book in hand and a glass of wine close by. He also enjoys pleasant conversation during these moments of relaxation, but will get bored easily and start moving around if the conversation drones on for too long.
One of the oddest quirks about Michael's personality is his need for self preservation but an inner desire to help others. He concentrates on his own needs and wants, but at the same time he has this nagging voice in his head to help others even when it may not be exactly in his best interest. The two battle constantly, but Michael's sense of duty usually forces his selfish interests to the wayside.

History
Michael Jameson King was born on June 18th in Springfield, Oregon to parents Oliver and Sandra King. He was the second of three children, the oldest being Derek Lee by 3 years and the youngest Melissa Rose by 6 years. Sadly for Michael, he was very much the middle child. Derek was greatly laid back, if not outright irresponsible, causing Michael to take up the duties usually placed on the oldest. While Derek and Michael never hated one another, they always had a sibling rivalry that only worsened when it was discovered Derek was a transsexual when Michael was 13.
Despite the iffy relations with his older brother, Michael's childhood was fairly normal. He was an active child who loved the outdoors and would spend hours at a time playing outside. His father placed him in the Scouts where his knack for camping and basic wilderness survival became obvious. Even after leaving the Boy Scouts upon entering high school, Michael took regular camping trips with his little sister.
Also while in the Scouts, he developed an interested in pocket knives as well as daggers and swords. He became so engrossed with these well-crafted weapons he set out to learn not only how they were created (he was particularly interested in the old blacksmithing ways of the past), but also how to fight with them. A driver's license gave him the ability to travel to Portland, Oregon, where he met an older man - Fredrick Wilson - who gladly fed him the knowledge of blades he craved.
Michael didn't realize he was a reincarnation of the hero of Little Red Riding Hood until high school. It came as a shock - to put it lightly - but he was too much of a practical person to believe in such a thing. There was nothing to explain it away, but he somehow managed to trick his mind into believing this was all just some weird joke. That was, until he was approached by the Atheneum. He was given a journal - or Compendium as they were referred to - and told he really was some reincarnation of a literary classic. Michael was floored; this couldn't be happening, it wasn't possible. Weeks went by before he actually started to believe this was all true.
The goal to live a normal life he had formed since his brother's coming out multiplied two-fold after that. Yes, he was an oddity, but hell if he was going to let that stop him from living his life in the normalcy he craved. He graduated from high school in 1987 and attended Nevada State College At Henderson majoring in Law Enforcement. While there, he met Lynn Dawson, a young woman with her sights set on dancing. Throughout college they flirted with one another, but it wasn't until his senior year did the couple finally decide to date. After graduation Michael joined the Las Vegas police force where he served for six years. During this time two life changing events occurred: his marriage to Lynn and an accident that caused him to give up his badge and pursue a different career.
Michael was examining his gun at the end of his shift when it accidentally discharged, the bullet hitting a fellow officer in the chest. While the shot wasn't fatal and he survived, there was a span of time the doctors weren't certain the man was going to make it. This took it's toll on Michael and within weeks he put in his letter of resignation. He couldn't - wouldn't - trust guns and to this day refuses to handle them.
The Kings moved to New York City soon after Michael's resignation, Lynn having recieved an offer to perform at a high-class burlesque. Michael had doubts about living in the city that held the one place that required him to remember he was different, but they needed money now that he was unemployed and didn't raise any objection. While Lynn pursued her career in dancing, Michael set up the business he had been pondering over for years: a weapons shop he named King's Armory.
Misfortune once again descended upon Michael when Lynn was killed in an accident. Michael was devastated and ultimately changed the way he viewed life. He slowly began to accept his past incarnation, even taking what memories he remembered from the many lives he'd lived and using them to help him accept Lynn's death. Five years after Lynn's death, Michael still lives in New York and runs King's Armory, but now willingly interacts within the tiny society the reincarnated fairy tales created.
