I...am...job.

Well...I got a job. I start in mid-July at a local CPA firm here in Humboldt, full-time and everything. I'm scared as heck, but excited too - this is basically the next step that I'd been procrastinating on since I first graduated back in 2003. I don't regret it for a minute - I've really enjoyed myself these past 5 years basically dicking around ( Read more... )

No haven't passed it, just started studying in fact. I think the plan will be to take 2/4 sections in August, then take the last 2 at the end of the year.

I have to work for a year under the tutelage of a CPA before I can get the license anyways, so there's no real rush to do it all at once.

I'm very happy for you, in that regard. At the same time, I almost feel the pull of your current lifestyle more, myself, for a while. Something where I work all the time, but not directly for someone else, perhaps. Except I still need money to pay off (lots of) debt that I've accrued, these past few months of unemployment, and money to fly. So I suppose I'm not destined to move to Arcata/Alaska/Oregon/Florida and do small-time contract work, flight instruction, consulting, sailing instruction, contract diving, music, etc while running a coffee shop on the side... as relaxing as that sounds. :>

Heh.

All that about myself aside, once again congratulations on getting the job, and I wish you long-term success ... in whatever form you find you prefer it.

Yeah it seems to be tough because there's never really an in between. Either you have time and you're broke, or you have money but you're working all the time. I know there's a balance in there somewhere, but the only thing I know is the more things you can do (eg skill set) the more likely this balance can become a reality.

I guess the fun is in the journey to find that balance...whee! :P
