I was checking and adding transmission fluid in my truck by myself, and part of that is running it through all the gears and back to park. Easy enough. I did it earlier this morning. And then I went and bought some new fluid, so I was going to check it again. Well, after starting it and running it through the gears I got out. And the truck decided to start going forward. I guess I left it in drive like an idiot. Like I said, I checked the fluid this morning with no problems. But anyways, it stopped moving once it rolled into my house. It even rolled over the little step that James tripped over. I imagined that it would just keep going, destroy my house, and whatever else bad happens when cars come into contact with houses. But luckily it just stopped, you can probably barely see the damage. And my truck is fine, of course. I just feel like an idiot. I'm not horribly upset. I laughed about it. But I still broke my house.
Oddly enough this makes you the second of my friends to run into a house with their truck. Although to be fair his is a 1984 toyota pickup with no brakes. For some reason he thought he could drive it up to the repair place without any brakes. I was gonna follow him up there, so I was already out of the driveway, but had a good view. He puts it in reverse, not remembering the wheels were cranked to the side, he gives it a little too much gas, the truck goes off into the yard and runs over the mailbox. Frustrated about this, he puts it back in drive and gives it some gas, and without brakes, drives right into one of the house's columns. The house was fine (a little cracked stucco), but the truck was toast, cracked the radiator, and probably broke some other stuff too (not worth fixing). Needless to say, it was probably better that he never got out onto the road. I think that every once in a while we all have to make some ridiculous mistake.

Luckily mine isn't so bad. The truck is fine and the house isn't badly damaged.
