Instead of a "real" post since I obviously don't do those, you get a random observation. All the shows I'm watching/downloading this season on TV are in their 3rd season. Veronica Mars? Season 3. Lost? Season 3. Grey's Anatomy? Season 3. Weird huh? I've watched up to current on everything but Grey's Anatomy although right now it's probably ( Read more... )

all good ways to ruin and kill life come in threes... plane crashes, train wrecks, natural disasters, tv shows... all in threes.

usually season 3 is when the show really starts to gain ground. all the storylines and characters have been introduced by then, and you're just developing them now. however, i'm watching none of the aforementioned shows, but am tivoing Heroes on NBC. I'll post my observations about it shortly.

i don't get why people like lost. i watched the entire first season and didn't enjoy it that much at all. i actually had to force myself to keep watching until the end. honestly, i'm much more interested in everyone's backstory then the fact that they're stranded on a "mystical" island. i also really hated the fact that all of them are somehow connected to each other. to me that's just dumb.

so why do you like it so much?

I thought the first season was really good, but mainly due to the big mystery of the island and the plane crash. But they've been dragging it out and not asnwering anything real for so long... I don't know. It's getting a bit too abstract. If I saw an episode of season 3 by itself I'd probably never want to watch it again. So you could say I watch it out of habit, and desire to see the mystery resolved. I still have hope for it based on past episodes.

eh... at the beginning of each season they have the big conflict that takes a couple of episodes to resolve before delving back into the story...

and after just watching episode four of the new season, seriously, i think it's getting more interesting. who cares if someone just coming to the show doesn't get it... it's added value for those who've watched it from the beginning.

plus, i think the writers said they had planned out about five seasons worth of rough plot outline. i'm sure they could stretch it if they wanted, but they had a game plan from the beginnning, so it's not like they're just bullshitting as they go along. at least not sompletely. and, five seasons is the magic number for syndication. so, being as it's another j.j. abrams thing, they'll end it at five all nice and tidy like they did alias (well, i don't know if that was nice and tidy or not, i just know they got the five seasons for syndication and then dropped it).

Substitute Battlestar Galatica for Lost and you have what I'm watching this season.

Although I think I'm gunna have to add Dexter. We'll see what Episode 1 is like.

i liked the backstories on lost, and the changing relationships between the characters, but the show overall was too scary.

we watched some heroes, but that was too scary too. good though.

I like Gray's, but after spending all day in the hospital, I can only bring myself to watch it sometimes :)
