I often wonder this. changing religions so much in life has made me much different ( Ifeel) than I would have been brought up one faith.

I thought of a dozen hilarious responses that I could have had to your post, but I didnt want to offend anyone who reads your journal. To be honest, I've thought about this too. If I had grown up atheist, would I still be as happy in life as I am now? Or would I be cynically pessimistic. Religion gives us hope, and from that hope we develop faith...though it could totally be the other way around dependeing on how picky you want to be. How is life?

I agree. What's amazing is that sometimes even core fundamental beliefs don't mean that people are similar. My husband and I share the same broad faith, but we have denominational differences that majorly divide us.

I realize how strong religious ties are when I find it impossibly hard to see myself in any other realm. I can imagine, but it's not reality to me.

I especially consider religious differences as we draw closer to the holidays. I remember wondering how to broach the subject of Christmas with my Hindu friend.

Interesting to contemplate.
