Nate has no social skills. Whatsoever. I guess I'll have to explain the whole basketball situation, won't I? Well.
He's a really bad communicator to start with. Much like Jimmy Servies except not quite so evil. Nate was the coach of the varsity and JV, and a junior hi team that consisted of two players until Aaron and I came along. We told a bunch of "friends" and they joined too. My dad started helping out at practices, and then since Nate already had two teams to manage, he appointed my dad the coach of the JH team. So far so good. Then we start actually playing games. We have to travel all over the state to play lopsided games. But we don't complain because we are ignorant. Then Nate says that uniforms cost $70. Again, we don't complain. Then halfway into the season my dad is talking to some other coaches and finds out that there are teams everywhere, like, ten within an hour of us. And some of the teams got uniforms for 30 dollars that were almost as good as ours. This was last year- Now this year my dad decided to start a girls team. Nate's okay with that because this means his daughter can play. But now we have four teams, so we (the junior hi and girls teams) practice at a separate gym from Nate's teams. And my dad searches around and finds a bunch of games to play that are MUCH closer than Nate's. And we buy cheaper uniforms. But we're still the same organization. So we play some games. One fateful night we were scheduled (by Nate) to play a game in Plainfield at eight o'clock. Only 5 players show up, because the parents don't want their precious little babies out that late- "It'll be ten o'clock before they get home!". A few weeks later Nate e-mails us the same day before another game there, and informs us that the time was changed from 7 to 8. So my dad e-mails him back and says we won't be able to field a team because it's too late. Also he adds that since they never come to crawfordsville to play us, we'd rather not play 4 games there as scheduled. Nate e-mails back and says "Fine. I'll cancel that one, and all the other conference games." So they get in a small e-argument. Then we hear through the grape-vine that Nate thinks we are "breaking off" from him. Apparently he's paranoid because a few years ago he had a JH team and an assistant coach that flew the coop and went off on their own. I don't blame them. Soo... Nate pretty much hates my dad. So anyway...
Monday night we had a game with a team we always whoop on, so my dad wanted to play our little kids, and emailed Nate to ask him to put me on the JV roster. We never heard back from him. So we get to the game, I sit on the bench through the JH game and with like, two minutes left I ask Sam- Nate's son who was coaching in place of Nate that night- If he wanted me to "suit up". Of course "Nah, no thanks." M. Well. So I sat the rest of the JH game and then my dad asked why I wasn't getting ready for the JV game. I told him and he went and talked to Sam, and Sam said Nate had told him "only to play the people on the roster". Aaron and Arron- who are also on the JH team and about the same skill level as me- played, and so did Brian, who hadn't even been to any games or practices all season, and hadn't even talked to Nate or Sam. So basically Nate didn't want ME to play, to make my dad angry. GRRRRRRRR... it worked.
Wow. That was long.
