Damn. Wow. You really screwed her over..... wow. But this was an interesting way to handle it - having her be completely unaware of the actual events, and yet showing how the aftermath can be just as traumatizing in and of itself. Loved the reactions from everyone and the care that they all showed for her. Great inner dialogue and characterization of Artemis ♥

Yeah, I DEFINITELY was not torturing Artemis for pleasure -- geez, the misogynistic implications of that -- but rather it was the catharsis and the figuring out how to work through her issues in a less than 'normal' traumatic experience that was the point. Really, I just...I've been thinking about a way to explore Artemis and her issues with being the 'hardened one' because of her parentage and yet having so much heart. Or I guess that's the conclusion I've come to about Artemis's characterization, anyway.

I do hope none of this comes off as though I condone the violence committed against Artemis. There's nothing that should do as such.

Oh no, no, don't worry about that. I don't think anyone would ever assume that you condone that kind of violence - or any, really. I think it was sort of necessary to have something that graphic to show why the team would still be so affected when Artemis herself is showing no huge trauma - directly because of the event, at least. And I think the permanence of the injuries is actually very realistic. Just, lol, you don't usually see authors willing to go that far, which is funny because it's not like we can't just start a new fic over in which the characters will be back to normal and happy.

Yeah, Artemis definitely has mixed personality traits in that sense. Like a caramel filled chocolate. Tough and hardened on the outside, soft and warm on the inside XD
