Holy crap. Seriously.

So... um... yeah. I have been trolling this site for new and interesting fan fic, and boy did I find some. This, however, does not help me to finish my own stupid fic that's been nearly three years in the making. Ugh.

Recently, I've been on this anime kick that will. not. end. This is what's happened since giving up cable. Just recently watched... hmm, where to start? My highest recs I guess. There's no way to summarize this stuff easily, but here goes...

Ouran High School Host Club - By far, the FUNNIEST series I've ever seen. Ha! Haruhi stumbles into the Host Club while looking for a quiet place to study. After breaking a valuable vase, Haruhi becomes indebted to the Host Club, and becomes an apprentice Host. The English dub features one of my favorite voices, J. Michael Tatum, who also voices the beautiful and deadly Sebastian in Black Butler. On Netflix. So is Black Butler, and I highly rec that one!

Guilty Crown - An ongoing new series available on HuluPlus and Funimation.com. Quiet Shou accidently gets involved in a splinter cell trying to overthrow the corporation running the government. He discovers he has the power to see and use what's in people's hearts as weapons, known as Voids. Gorgeous animation, a seriously deep plot... just wow.

Persona 4 The Animation Another ongoing series on Hulu. Based on a popular video game. The Player finds a portal in TVs and has to save he and his friends from their Shadow selves. Each life saved gains him another stronger avatar. It's gotten very interesting!

Tactics - A fascinating short series focusing on a Meiji-era exorcist, Kantarou, who's caught between the changing modern world and old superstitions. Kantarou finally finds and releases the ominous Black Tengu, the Demon-Eating Goblin, whom he's sought all his life. After naming the tengu, the demon is compelled to do Kantarou's will. It has some decent fan fic too. On Netflix, and YouTube.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom - I'm currently watching this one too. Dude. It's so heavy, I have to break it up with Ouran or Fruits Basket to lighten the mood! A guy wakes up with no memory, and a masked girl trying to kill him. Turns out a corporation called Inferno, wants to unite and control all underworld organizations, and use the most elite pair of assassins to get it. Extortion, murder, sex, drugs, guns, deception... it is all here.

Also, I've discovered the very naughty side of the genre. I did not need this. It had led to quite the obsession! Yaoi, also known as boy-love; slash, anime style. Holy tomatoes.

Fuyu no Semi (Winter Cicada) - Some lovely historical fiction. Two samurai from opposing clans meet and fall in love in the Bunkyuu Era. They share a summer together, learning both sides of a burgeoning war. Kusaka goes abroad in hopes to help his clan understand the changing times, Akizuki stays behind. War breaks out, Imperial rule wins out. In the final battle, Kusaka finds Akizuki attempting seppeku, and stops him. Kusaka hides Akizuki, keeping him from becoming a POW, but Akizuki is riddled with guilt. OMG tears.

Antique Bakery - I had no idea this little manga was so popular. It's not only a 12-episode anime, but a live action movie and a tv series. Tachibana is from a very wealthy family, has a very cushy job. One day, he up and quits, and decides to open a Western-style bakery. He hires a patissier, Ono, whom he rejected in high school when Ono confessed his feelings. Ono gets repeatedly fired, due to his Demonic Charm, that causes men to fall for him everywhere. LOL If anything, you will come away wishing for dessert every time you watch.

And there is so much more. It is - I am - ridiculous! But never fear... my final (?) SGA fic will be coming soon. Promise! That is all.

commercial break, anime
