I despise Oprah, but the book she just picked for her book club is simultaneously dark and foreboding and awesome. "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. Too bad everyone's now reading it, so you can't feel all special like you used to.

Did you ever read Dave Eggers? If you like Sedaris, you'll love Eggers' work, particularly AHWOSG.

I have read AHWOSG, but not a whole lot else by Eggers. I'll have to look into it.

In observance of David Halberstam's death, enjoy his masterful look at the ins and outs of corporate media, "The Powers That Be."

You'd probably enjoy "Blue Like Jazz" if you're into the religiony thought thing right now. I also just read "Good in Bed" and found it fairly entertaining.

If you're into sociology type stuff, I can't recommend "There are no children here" more ... it's absolutely amazing -- a peek into a life we don't know, but so well written.
