Hey all u LJers out in Chennai, are you guys safe? Am watching the news and the reports are terrible! Hope you guys are safe!

Yeah! i saw the news report when it first happened but didnt realize the extent untill sometime ago when i switched on the TV again. Are your parents in Chennai or in the US? If chennai, are they fine?

Apparently Sri lanka is the worst hit with already 500 confirmed dead.

yeah just now talked to them. they are fine. Most damage is on the areas closer to sea. Fortunately they are not.

I am closer to the beach. A church by the beach is supposedly flooded, and there are reports of people being drowned, while in Church. I wonder if they got trapped or something! Luckily not much damage near where I stay...

I have friends who live on the beach and their compound wall has been broken down...but some of their neighbours are worse affected.

The South east cost of India is the one that got hit. BBC says 1650 Indians dead, but i feel its more coz they havent got communication from the Andaman and Nicobar islands which were right in the middle of the Tsunamis.

This is really bad, i think all the SE Asian countries are bracing for another hit sometime later tonight. I just pray it doesnt.

i hope there isnt another hit, from the pictures im seeing from the telly, it doesnt look like anything will be left if another tsunami came along

Yep..Port Blair got majorly hit..I think with communication liknks down in both Andaman and Indonesia...we still havent got the official numbers..Something tells me its going to be very big...
