That was played wonderfully by the way. It was a piece by...hmm, was it Chopin?

[Oh hello fellow musician, Frederic's glad to see you or in this case, hear you.]

Yes, I am a musician and a composer. But thank you for the compliment and yes, it is one of my own works.

Oh, I see! I have listened to a few of your pieces before, but my teacher generally gives us research material based on what instrument we actually play--

[Oh, it's Mr. Chopin - Robert hasn't spoken to him in a long time, but after being entirely avoidant of the journals for a week or so, he's missing conversing with other people. And this is an interesting question.]

"Emotion" and "life"...

Well, Mr. Chopin, those are very... abstract concepts, are they not? [For someone who studies non-Terran life-forms, "life" is an important definition to have. ... "Emotion"? Not quite so easy for Robert, whose social-cue reading skills are impaired at best, to discern.]

Are you looking for my definition, or... an a-analysis?

[Well this is voice he hasn't heard in a while. He isn't certain how to answer this at first because of the last time they spoke together, but does his best to answer.]

They may be abstract concepts, but they are apart of nature are they not? Humans have both life and emotion within all of them. That is why I want to know what they mean to people as they view the two words not as a definition or analysis, but what comes from their heart.

[Tough question for Robert. After a few seconds of silence, he tries to come to some sort of answer.]

... Life... I suppose, for me, l-life is... is the ability to grow, and develop, and to spread influence. ... Such a question is fascinating in and of itself - there are so many k-kinds of life, and... and they are all so very beautiful. [Real wonderment ghosts through Robert's tone at this.]

A-As for emotion... I suppose emotion, for me, i-is... is a means of filtering e-experiences. Of... of perceiving things. And they are... i-important. Painful at times, but... but important.

... However, they... c-can occasionally get in the way of a p-proper objective decision. [More than once, Robert has felt himself influenced when he should not have been, but he's becoming unprofessional here.]

What do they mean to me? Well considering you're familiar with my background, you must know my take upon life. As for emotions, it depends on the situation.

Yeah it's all sunshine and rainbows isn't it? [ Said so damn sarcastically. ]

I guess it all depends on the situation. React accordingly and all that. Life too. Malnosso here probably don't give it a second thought, since they can just bring people back whenever they bloody well want to. Guess it depends on what you believe in too.

That may be sarcastic of you, but it is the truth for me. [He's not amused by that sarcasm.] And that may be what the Malnosso think, but what do you think for yourself?

I think emotion's really important, the good and the bad. I can't even imagine what life'd be like without feelings. It just sounds so... scary.

And they make us who we are! Everybody feels things differently, you know?

[As for that second question...]

Anyway, I think life's something you gotta live to the fullest. People shouldn't have to feel sad or alone-- life should be about following your dreams and making friends along the way.

Emotions?

Well, I think on a general level emotions can be both good or bad. They make life interesting but at the same time they can be a little tricky to work around.

It depends on the person, really.

Hmmm I see, and what is your take on life itself?

[magicrevelation]

I think life should be treated as a challenge. Sometimes they'll be obstacles you must face. You have to be aware of them and you can't always expect everything to go the way you want it to. It'd be a pretty sad story if life was all hardships, but fortunately there are some positive aspects to it as well. When two people fall in love with each other that could be a joyous moment. Small and miraculous things like that make life interesting and fun.

What do you do though if you feel as though your entire life is nothing but hardships? That no matter how much happiness you try seeking, it always ends in ruin.
