The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. Don't be fooled by the slightly cheesy title hehe, because it's the best book I read last year. :) Second on the list is Melissa Banks' The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing. It's not really a novel, more of several chapters talking about her different take on relationships. I really enjoyed it and found it hard to put down.

For chick lit, the last one I read was The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. I liked it, haha girly.
