Summary: Kyungsoo never thought he’d be anything other than a fan to his idol, the one and only Suho.
Author’s Note: I like idol and fan aus. They are very interesting to me so i was happy to pick this au. I hope my recipient likes it!
Kyungsoo wakes up at six am, says good morning to his fish and heads to the bathroom for a quick shower and a small breakfast after he’s dress. He grabs his wallet; double checking to make sure he has all his passes for the day in his bag; before he makes his way out the door.
His palms are sweating a little but that’s ok. It’s only his nerves. Today will be the first comeback stage of his favorite idol, the one and only Suho.
Finally, after a year and two months, Kyungsoo would be able to see Suho on stage again. He could yell it to the world right now, but it is early and he’s not the loud type unless he’s with his close friends. None of them were that thrilled about Suho’s return to the stage which wasn’t surprising since none of them followed anyone in kpop anymore after graduating high school. Kyungsoo had dropped a lot of groups as well but there is something about Suho that he can’t give up just yet. Maybe never if he was going to be honest about his feelings. Nothing was going to get in Kyungsoo’s way when it came to the love he had for his precious idol.
The ride to Ilsan is never too long since he’s checking his Me2day and twitter. Every one of the Suho fans he follows is more than excited and the ones he doesn’t follow were just the same. It’s gonna be nice to be around his people again after so long. He chuckles to himself at the thought. He really couldn’t wait.
As expected Kyungsoo wasn’t the first to get in line but he was close. It wasn’t hard to spot the fan club either, since one person had on their CITIZENS jacket. Kyungsoo was glad he decided not to wear his. He removes his goods and info as he steps in line and sits down. They have a long wait. His water will keep him together since eating anything else is out of the question. Not with the man of his dreams just hours away from his comeback stage.
“Oh my god, look! He’s here! He’s back! Oooh he looks so cute waiting to see Suho oppa.”
Kyungsoo keeps his head down and tries not to flush as more and more fans show up and some regular ones recognize him. Suho had guy fans but not that many so any male fans were easy to spot and learn fairly quickly; Kyungsoo being one of the more popular ones that wasn’t a fan site master. They don’t bother him but he knows they will keep whispering about him like they always do. He slowly brings out his headphones and decides to practice on the new fanchants; as if he didn’t already know them by hard; to take his mind off the others around him.
Before he knows it, it's time to stand up and file inside. Kyungsoo’s stomach is in knots. He’s trying to stay calm but that’s impossible once he gets a good look at the stage set up. The colors are a mixture of silver and blue; their fan colors, and a few props. It’s simple yet still beautiful; just like the song it's going to be used for.
Someone beside him screams and Kyungsoo wants to join in as he watches Suho walk to the front of the stage to greet them. His CITIZENS. The stylist have put Suho in a pair of white slacks, a navy blue vest with a checkered shirt underneath. His hair is slicked back perfectly and Kyungsoo finds himself nodding in approval. Suho smiles at them and most are waving up at him with either their hands or lightsticks.
“I hope my CITIZENS didn’t have to wait long for me?”
“WE DIDN’T,” someone in the back shouts.
“WE’D WAIT FOREVER,” another adds on.
Suho laughs and greets them properly and Kyungsoo joins in answering him back with the rest of the crowd of fans. Suho continues to smile brightly at them. “A lot of you bought my new full album, thank you so much! I’m happy that so many are still enjoying my songs. I can’t thank my wonderful CITIZENS enough.”
The fans collectively aww and coo at him before a manager and PD come out to talk to him and make sure his mic is working along with a stylist to touch up his make up. Suho listens to the PD as they walk him a few steps back to his marker. Soon they leave Suho to make sure everyone else is set for the first run through.
Kyungsoo felt himself smiling as he watches Suho take a deep breath and prepares to start singing at any moment. Kyungsoo was so happy to find out Suho would be promoting his song ‘Beautiful’ along with ‘My Baby’ since it's slower and fits Suho’s vocals very well.
The PD announces that they will start recording and Suho and his background dancers should get ready to. Kyungsoo clicks his light stick on and screams out with his fellow CITIZENS as the song starts and Suho starts to sing.
Suho only performs Beautiful twice. There has never been a problem with him getting things done when he’s on the stage. He knows how to work the cameras and it shows with how many are nodding at him as they watch off stage. The song is one of Kyungsoo’s favorite off the new album and its takes all his willpower to get emotional during filming. He holds his tears in since 7 times out of 10 he will need them later.
After a few changes to the set and Suho and his background dancers are back on stage in suits. Suho’s being black and black and the singer looks quickly gets to the center of the stage. Kyungsoo hears the sound of a lense behind him but instead of outing the fansite he keeps his eyes on Suho. That’s when he sees it.
Suho hides his nervousness well. Always have, but Kyungsoo has seen enough videos, saw live stages to notice the tell tell signs and before he can stop himself the words come out.
“Suho hyung, it’s ok. You got this!”
Suho looks up and over in surprise at Kyungsoo and chuckles. “Are you sure,” he jokes back, smile beaming and Kyungsoo almost forgets to answer him. “Of course,” Kyungsoo says, “As a CITIZEN i know so!” The others around him scream out in support of his words and Suho thanks him and all of them for the encouragement.
‘My Baby’ is a faster upbeat song that’s playful and Kyungsoo easily sings along with the fan chants. It’s fun and a lot of non fans have liked it online too. So it’s no surprise that Suho wins number 1 at the end of the show. The crowd keeps screaming the whole time as Suho thanks his label, his managers, the background dancers and of course his wonderful CITIZENS. He bows to them and they all scream louder. The encore stage is a mess of smiles and tears and the background dancers whipping Suho’s tears. Kyungsoo is doing his best not to be as bad as his counterparts around him, but he can’t stop his tears either. He had been worried about Suho winning too but he knows now there was never anything he had to worry about.
Once outside Kyungsoo was able to fix his face before looking around the crowd of fans as he walks. He took out his fansign pass and approaches a small group of fangirls.
“Excuse but, would anyone interested in going to Suho’s fan meet event? I have to leave for home so--”
“OH MY GOD YES! I WOULD,” a fan closest to him squeals. He smiles at her as he hands it over. “Have fun for me ok?”
“THANK YOU SO MUCH OPPA AND I WILL! I WILL!”
Kyungsoo smiles again and bows himself away before they start asking him questions. He’s halfway to the metro when he hears someone call his name. He turns and almost frowns.
“I heard your camera, Baekhyun.”
The younger males smiles cheekily at Kyungsoo. “Opps, sorry about that,” he laughs, “I thought i had fix my settings. It won’t happen again.” Still not going to a fan meet again i see.”
Kyungsoo sighs and turns to be on his way. He didn’t feel like having this conversation today. “Bye Baekhyun.”
“Hey wait,” Baekhyun runs in front of him. “I just wanted to say hi and….”
“And what,” Kyungsoo asks, fighting to not roll his eyes.
“And to tell you that you might want to check Nate and Pann,” Baekhyun shrugs, “something about some fan boy in the front of the crowd today. It’s pretty interesting if you ask me,” he winks with a laugh.
Kyungsoo watches Baekhyun leaves and tries to not panic. He hurries to the metro and as fast as he can without attracting attention. For the second time today he’s thankful he didn’t wear his fan jacket. Kyungsoo makes it to a seat and wipes out his cell phone. He searches for the latest Suho articles and Baekhyun was right.
It’s comment after comment about Suho’s fanboy. How good he looked and his words that seem to ‘give Suho the needed peace he didn’t know he needed before the start of his stage.’ Kyungsoo shoves his phone in his pocket and fights back a groan. From experience he knows the comments are just going to keep coming since he’d already planned to go to every single stage. The fan accounts were a bit unnerving but nothing was going to stop him from supporting his Leader Suho.
A few hours after the fan meeting Kyungsoo is at the park relaxing. The girl he’d given his ticket too had posted her fan account and thanked him over and over. Others had express their desire to meet him and that’s when he knew to close the browser. It never takes long before the comments turn from curious to down right rated. He was past that. Some wondered why he didn’t attend the fan meet; not buying his busy excuse.
He was busy, helping his mother move her winter close to the attic so it wasn’t a lie at all. Those were a lot of bins of clothes and an early start is always best.
Now he was at the park having a hot dog. As the sun set and the city lit up. Not many people were out which was great for Kyungsoo. The lesser the better. He only put up with loudness he’d plans to be apart of these days.
His phone buzzes so Kyungsoo places his hot dog down at his side and takes his phone out. Baekhyun updated his fan site and sent a link to Kyungsoo. He opens the link and reaches down for his hot dog only to meet hair and ears of a small dog happily devouring the last of his meal.
“Yah, where did you come from?” Kyungsoo ask with a frown and looks around for the owner. The dog didn’t mind him at all and Kyungsoo shakes his head. “How can you just eat my hot dog like that?”
The dog looks up to him while liking it’s nose and sniffs around for more. Kyungsoo grabs the leash and his now empty napkin before he stands up. Thankfully he has enough money for another hot dog.
“Byul! Byul, where are you?!”
The dog stops sniffing around Kyungsoo’s legs and barks twice. Kyungsoo looks up at the figure running towards them. “I take it this is your dog? He was hungry by the way. Ate the rest of my…”
“You…”
Kyungsoo knew his eyes were as wide as ever. Staring back at him with was a very bashful but surprised Suho. The dog barks breaking the awkwardness of the moment.
“Yah Byul, why did you run off,” Suho huffs, squatting to pick the dog up. “You just ate before we came here…”
Suho shakes his head and Kyungsoo blinks at him. His mouth feels stuck. Never had he thought he’d met Suho like this. “What are you doing here at this time of night” Kyungsoo blurts out.
Suho chuckles, “I was walking my dog before i stopped to tie my shoe and he ran off. He has a thing for hot dogs, I’m sorry. I can buy you another one if you’d like.”
“That’s ok,” Kyungsoo quickly shakes his head, “It’s..it’s fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, yeah i was just leaving,” Kyungsoo lies. He couldn’t think of what else to even try to say.
“Ok then...D.O. sshi.”
Kyungsoo does a double take. The shock on his face must be showing enough for Suho to look a bit worried as well.
“I’m sorry but that’s the only name i know you by and..”
“You know me??”
Kyungsoo spots Suho’s smile in the dim lighting. “How could i not know you? You’re one of my CITIZENS. A year and four months is really a long time but I didn’t lose you like i thought i did.”
“Lose me? Why did you think that?” Kyungsoo may have stopped going to fan meeting and other fan events but he made it to most stages, even back then.
Suho puts his dog back down, “You stopped coming to my events. I thought you’d dropped me.”
I didn’t though,” Kyungsoo tells him. “I was taking this computer class and it was in Busan that’s why i was gone...but how do you know me by D.O.”
He only used that name online and only a few other people knew he was D.O.
Suho smiles playfully, “it may be a good idea to tell Leader’s Love not to put so much in his fan letters.”
Kyungsoo was going to kill Baekhyun with his bare hands.
Suho laughs out laugh. “I’m sorry but, you’re face tells me you didn’t know?”
“No idea,” Kyungsoo answers but he’s not too shocked. He decides to drop the subject. Today was getting crazier by the minute.
“Hyung, shouldn’t you be home resting for tomorrow?”
“I took a nap and had my tea so I’m fine for right now,” Suho shrugs. “Besides it’s a nice night...and my dog ate your hot dog so its not too bad of a night.”
The way Suho is looking at him has Kyungsoo wanting to run. Looks like that don’t happen to guys like him. He’s a fan, Suho is the idol. That’s just the way things are but…
“Thank you.”
“Hmm?”
“For today, earlier...before I sung My Baby. I was hoping to tell you at the fan meet but you didn’t come.”
Suho moves his dog’s leash to his other hand Kyungsoo notices. He moves things from hand to hand when he’s nervous.
“How did you know I was freaking out,” Suho ask.
“Like how you are now for some reason i can’t understand,” Kyungsoo says and almost chokes on his own words as Suho gives him a short laugh, another nervous tick.
“Yeah...Yes.”
“It’s not too hard to learn someone you’re a fan of,” Kyungsoo starts. “You bounce on your heels three or four times to shake the nervousness from your shoulders. If that doesn’t work you put a hand behind your back and pull your shirt. That mostly helps but...today was...different.”
Suho nods, “Yeah, it was...so again thank you…”
“Kyungsoo,” he smiles, “My name is Do Kyungsoo, Suho hyung.”
Suho stills, looking curiously down at Kyungsoo. “Do Kyungsoo...do you know my real name?”
“Of course.”
“Would you mind calling me that from now on,” Suho ask and Kyungsoo does stop breathing for a few seconds.
“But...but you said you only like it when your family and close friends call you that.” Kyungsoo remembers that article in one of Suho’s early interviews. Did he miss a new interview or something?
“Well, I’m kind of hoping I can add you to that friends list, Kyungsoo yah.”
Kyungsoo licks his lips and thankfully doesn’t scream out loud. His idol wants...The Suho wants to be friends. With him.
He doesn’t freak but he slowly gives the singer a smile. “I think i would like that very much Junmyeon hyung.”
“Great,” Suho beams down at him. “Now let me get you another hot dog while you put your phone number in my cell.”
“Ok,” Kyungsoo laughs and can not believe this is happening but it is and he can not wait to rub it in Baekhyun’s face.

The way Suho is looking at him has Kyungsoo wanting to run. Looks like that don’t happen to guys like him. He’s a fan, Suho is the idol. That’s just the way things are but…
“Thank you.”
“Hmm?”
“For today, earlier...before I sung My Baby. I was hoping to tell you at the fan meet but you didn’t come.”
Suho moves his dog’s leash to his other hand Kyungsoo notices. He moves things from hand to hand when he’s nervous.
“How did you know I was freaking out,” Suho ask.
“Like how you are now for some reason i can’t understand,” Kyungsoo says and almost chokes on his own words as Suho gives him a short laugh, another nervous tick.
“Yeah...Yes.”
“It’s not too hard to learn someone you’re a fan of,” Kyungsoo starts. “You bounce on your heels three or four times to shake the nervousness from your shoulders. If that doesn’t work you put a hand behind your back and pull your shirt. That mostly helps but...today was...different.”
Suho nods, “Yeah, it was...so again thank you…”
“Kyungsoo,” he smiles, “My name is Do Kyungsoo, Suho hyung.”
Suho stills, looking curiously down at Kyungsoo. “Do Kyungsoo...do you know my real name?”
“Of course.”
“Would you mind calling me that from now on,” Suho ask and Kyungsoo does stop breathing for a few seconds.
“But...but you said you only like it when your family and close friends call you that.” Kyungsoo remembers that article in one of Suho’s early interviews. Did he miss a new interview or something?
“Well, I’m kind of hoping I can add you to that friends list, Kyungsoo yah.”
Kyungsoo licks his lips and thankfully doesn’t scream out loud. His idol wants...The Suho wants to be friends. With him.
He doesn’t freak but he slowly gives the singer a smile. “I think i would like that very much Junmyeon hyung.”
“Great,” Suho beams down at him. “Now let me get you another hot dog while you put your phone number in my cell.”
“Ok,” Kyungsoo laughs and can not believe this is happening but it is and he can not wait to rub it in Baekhyun’s face.
