[At first, Ukitake sighs, knowing that he was right in thinking Riku would get sick. But as his coughing continues, he grows more and more worried.

And then that hoarse coughing, almost hacking, tips him off that something is very, very wrong. Ukitake knows exactly what that kind of coughing feels like, and also what some of the effects can be.]

[Okay, so as tempted as he is to shut off the video feed and send the other away, he knows he can't, because it's Ukitake.

So he let's the feed continue, even if he does private it. And what it shows is Riku, leaning against his bed, curling up into himself as tightly as possible, holding a cloth, covering in spots of bright red blood.

He doesn't actually answer, because as soon as he opens his mouth, he's coughing again, holding up the cloth just in case.]

[He's pale, and his green eyes are a little glassy, but that's mostly because he just coughed up a whole mess of blood onto the white of the rag he's holding. And he's definitely not used to that.]
